Review: Yasha Legends of the Demon Blade

ATTENTION: THIS REVIEW WAS MADE BASED ON THE DEMO VERSION OF THE GAME.

Prepare your weapons to defeat hordes of demons.

THE GAME

Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is a roguelite action game developed by 7QUARK and published by 7QUARK and Game Source Entertainment. Set in the Edo period, you will embark on an adventure where humans and demons live a delicate relationship. This relationship is broken when the nine-tailed fox spreads chaos throughout the human domains. In search of peace, our warriors will face several demons to restore balance.

Face powerful enemies.

MY IMPRESSIONS

With a variety of moves and combos, as well as different characters, it's hard not to like the combat in Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade. The three playable characters have their own quirks and styles, which makes the game very versatile in its combat. Dodges and blocks are also present, further increasing the range of possible combos. Improvements, both for the character and weapons, are also an important factor, as each element of the game has its own style and effect, which will depend on your way of playing and how best to adapt. You may end up getting lost at first with so many commands, but you'll soon get used to it. The game's art is very beautiful and colorful, full of effects that match the elements used, almost like a painting on the canvas. The game is in Brazilian Portuguese, which makes it easier to understand the mechanics and follow the stories. Despite the very fluid gameplay and captivating art, at times I felt that the game was very generic, as if something was still missing. Still, it's a fun roguelite that will probably keep you hooked when it's released.

And also face giant enemies.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Since it's a demo version of the game, I didn't have access to the achievements, although the Steam page indicates that the full game will have achievements, which is good news. When you play, you can already see some probable objectives and I believe they will be very challenging achievements.

Use all possible combos.

CONCLUSION

The vibrant, artistic visuals really caught my attention when I played Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade. Although it's a short demo, you can already get a feel for how the game will play. Even though it has a lot of potential, I felt like the game didn't captivate me, even though I liked everything it had to offer. As I said before, I feel like something is missing, some element that I can't explain, but that is missing. I hope that when I play the full game, I can find that element.

SCORE: 7.5/10
