THE GAME

Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop is a management roguelite developed by Beard Envy and published by Kasedo Games. At a station located on an asteroid, Wilbur works as a spaceship mechanic. Since nothing in this life is free, he has to pay rent to Uncle Chop. Therefore, Wilbur has to fix as many ships as possible so as not to suffer the consequences. With the help of a manual and a lot of patience, fix modules of the ships that arrive at the station in need of repair. Remember: keep an eye on the time. Even if everything goes wrong, don't worry, you can always try again, from the beginning, but with a little more experience.

MY IMPRESSIONS

A roguelite that mixes management and puzzles is not something that comes easily. It's an idea that, although simple, is used intelligently and has a good balance of difficulty. Although the idea is a race against time to solve problems, the developers have included an option for those who don't like this kind of urgency, adding a mode where there is no countdown, but the difficulty of repairing the modules is increased. It's a smart way to accommodate all types of players, balancing the aspects that were originally designed for the game. Still in the gameplay, it may seem confusing at first, even with the manual in hand, you may have some difficulty understanding, but I understand this as an experience of the game, as if you were a beginner in it and are learning, so it doesn't bother the player. Some of the improvements you acquire will accompany you every time you start a new game, which makes your life easier to advance in future attempts. The game is not in Brazilian Portuguese, which makes it difficult to understand some terms in the manual and even to understand the plots of the stories that are told.

Wilbur is a charismatic protagonist and takes us through this strange story, full of mysteries and conflicts, which is even different for a game that claims to be a roguelite, but it works well. I really liked the art of the game, it's almost like a cartoon, with caricatured characters but full of charisma, in a style where the characters are strange but well-constructed in their proposals. It's a game that can leave you exhausted looking for solutions to fix the modules, but that will also keep your attention in the subplots, so it will be a good pastime for those who like this genre.

ACHIEVEMENTS

There are a variety of very difficult achievements in Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop. There are achievements related to the various stories that the game presents, achievements for improving the workshop, achievements for completing certain challenges within a specific time frame, in short, there is a diversity of achievements that will make you sweat to get them. Therefore, keep playing and unlocking what is possible normally and only then go after what is missing. Since it is a roguelite game and there is a lot to do in different aspects, it is not worth hunting for achievements right from the start.

CONCLUSION

Even with an interesting premise, Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop may not grab you at first. Even more so if you're Brazilian. Not having a translation of the texts into Brazilian Portuguese is not a big problem in most games, but in games where the text and rules of the game are essential, not having a translation is really detrimental. Even if you know English and can progress, the problem is that it gets tiring to translate everything while having a countdown pressuring you. Aside from that factor, it's a game with a different and creative idea, which reminded me a lot of Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes, where we also have a manual and a countdown, a premise that we don't see much in the gaming market. I hope that in the near future they provide a translation into Brazilian Portuguese.
