Deities must protect their people from these damned cursed islands.
THE GAME
These Doomed Isles is a roguelike and deck builder developed by Triplevision Games Limited and distributed by Fireshine Games. As a deity, build your civilization on this great archipelago and establish yourself as a great city, in search of resources and residents. However, peace will not always reign. Various monsters will try to destroy your civilization, so protect your citizens so that the islands prosper.
MY IMPRESSIONS
Deck builder style games have been disappointing me a lot lately. In These Doomed Isles it was no different, unfortunately. Despite the nice graphics and interesting idea, the game seems very empty to me. Not that it is, as it has a very varied range of cards and deities, but the feeling of playing is "ok, is that it?" Furthermore, the game is not in Portuguese-Brazil, which can make it difficult to understand some card effects.
The idea for the game seems to be something more dynamic, with station changes and simple turns, but I often found myself just passing through the stations, trying to finish the objectives at once. I think the game was missing something more, some difference that doesn't leave this feeling of emptiness. I honestly don't know how to resolve this, but it was something that left me very disappointed.
ACHIEVEMENTS
The game currently has no achievements, unfortunately. I hope it's in the developers' plans to create more challenges for players.
CONCLUSION
I wish I had liked These Doomed Isles more. The game failed to keep me, whenever I finished a game, I didn't feel like continuing to play. And this is very worrying, as games like this tend to make you want to play more and more. And it's not that the game is bad, it just left me disappointed.
Even with its simplicity, the game becomes a bit overwhelming and repetitive, with no new features. I hope that over time they add more content to the game, maybe something will make this feeling of emptiness disappear. I repeat, it's not a bad game, it just didn't meet my expectations as a player.
