Review: The Invincible

Uncovering something related to the sci-fi genre is always a great mystery, since the options available for this genre are quite varied. The Invincible is an adaptation of the novel by the Polish author of Solaris, Stanisław Lem.

The project, developed by Starward Industries, is the company's first project, which was created with experienced developers who worked on AAA games, such as The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077 and Dead Island. The Game is distributed by 11 bit studios.

The game is available for: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

STORY

The Invincible is a game with an interesting and mysterious story. We are constantly intrigued by what is happening in that universe and what mystery surrounds the planet we are exploring.

Astrobiologist Yasna has the mission to rescue the crew of the Dragonfly, under the command of our astrogater, Novik, with whom she has incredible dialogues with reflections on morality, depending on your choices throughout the narrative.

We start the game with a loss of memory that we recover over time. As we unravel the mysteries of what happens to that planet, we will see flashbacks that took us to the initial moment of our participation in the Dragonfly mission.

RESOURCES

As it is a narrative game without many mechanics, The Invincible needed to maintain its technical aspects well and graphically the game is well above average. Unreal Engine 5 features magnificent reflections, extremely well done shading and scenes worthy of a science fiction film. The game's audio is good, but it's important to play with subtitles turned on because some things might be missed if we didn't use them.

All very cool, all very good, but The Invincible has some annoying technical problems that may make you have to restart the game. The audio can be corrupted in such a way that character voices do not come out and, sometimes, events may not happen. It is very likely that there will be patches that resolve these issues later.

ACHIEVEMENTS

I would like to emphasize that, despite being easy, the achievements in The Invincible are quite frustrating, as we always emphasize here on the portal. If companies could listen more to completionists to improve the development of game achievements, they would certainly be played more. In the case of The Invincible, the problems are achievements that are missable and others that force you to play the game several times in different ways.

We are extremely critical of this type of achievement and believe that it should be abolished from games, as these are achievements that are part of a past era of gaming.

RESUME

The Invincible is an interesting game with a mysterious story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Despite looking like a Walking simulator, the game is really cool and makes us feel like we're on a living planet, in a future similar to what we imagine. I didn't know Stanisław Lem's book, but from the juice that the game gives us, we can imagine how incredible it is. The false impression of exploration of the world is somewhat sad at the moment, since we practically have a path to follow, without the possibility of changing or making different decisions regarding exploration.

Choosing a narrative game of take this or do that is a shame, as you can imagine big things related to this world and its characters.
