We don't even have peace of mind when we sleep and we are tormented by nightmares, but we can avoid them in Sweet Dreams Alex.
THE GAME
Sweet Dreams Alex is a puzzle game developed by Clarity Games and distributed by Kasedo Games. Alex is still a child and dreams a lot. It is our duty as dream builders, as the game calls it, to keep the nightmares away from Alex until the day dawns. To do this, we must build obstacles and make it difficult for the nightmares to reach the little girl, so that she can have a peaceful night's sleep.
MY IMPRESSIONS
Puzzle games always make you rack your brains to solve them and, therefore, they must have a good learning curve so that the player doesn't give up. In Sweet Dreams Alex, each world has its own mechanics and makes good use of that learning curve, teaching each aspect of that world. However, make no mistake: it is an extremely challenging game. At various times I spent a lot of time thinking, trying and making mistakes, until I managed to pass the stage.
His art is very playful, which represents what a child's mind would be like. Each world has a unique theme and its own mechanics, bringing something new every time you progress through the game. Unfortunately, the game is not in Portuguese-Brazil, which can make it difficult to understand some mechanics that are explained by the game in text form. You can even create levels and share them with other players to challenge them.
It's a very satisfying game when you get the level right, but it can be extremely frustrating if you don't have the patience to try to solve the level several times. It's a relatively long game for that reason. Even if you get it right the first time, many stages require the positioning of different elements, which extends the duration of the game, along with its large number of stages. It's a game to be enjoyed little by little.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Sweet Dreams Alex achievements are basically earned just by completing all stages, extra stages and collecting all dreams during the game. Additionally, we have achievements related to level creation and diaries that are spread across some maps. It's not a difficult game to achieve 100% of the achievements, but it is difficult because the game itself is challenging.
CONCLUSION
If you're looking for a challenge, you've found it. Sweet Dreams Alex offers a good level of difficulty along with simple gameplay and easy-to-understand mechanics. Neither mechanic overpowers the other and does not bloat the game in a way that confuses the player. As I said before, I only recommend playing it in small doses as it can become tiring and frustrating.
Despite having already seen this idea of preventing danger from reaching the objective, Sweet Dreams Alex executes it very well and in a pleasant way. It's a game that requires a lot of patience and a lot of trial and error. The fact that it has many levels is good and bad, as it gives you more of the game to enjoy, but it can become very tiring. I recommend challenging yourself.
