IMPRESSIONS
The game itself is pretty simple: you win ten races in a season and move on to the next one. Those who already know games like Top Gear and Horizon Chase Turbo will find the same kind of gameplay and spirit here.
The soundtrack, along with the sound of your car, create the perfect atmosphere for this type of game. Add this to the simple graphics and classic scenery movement of this type of game and you have a combination that smells of the 90s.
This game was entirely created by a Brazilian who, as I understand it, did everything himself. That in itself is amazing . Knowing this, we may feel some limitations, however, they are totally understandable.
Because it was so simple, I felt that it lacked some variations in the races. All tracks basically have the same setting in each season and that makes it more of the same. I didn't feel that the upgrades I was doing to my car were visible. I also missed a minimap to get a sense of the track and how far I had traveled. The look of the car could also be more unique, as all the colors you use on it are the same as those of your opponents. By using exclusive colors, I believe that it would have a greater effect of protagonism for those who play.
Perhaps because I finished the game in one afternoon, I found it tiring and too repetitive. Still, it's a very fun game and, for those who lived through the 90s like me, it will give you a slight nostalgia.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Game achievements are easy to complete. If you collect all the money you can in the races and win them all, you're guaranteed 100% .
CONCLUSION
Steel Racer is a great pastime . It's not difficult, but it's not just speeding up without thinking either. It has some settings that can make or break your game, which can give you a little more challenge.
As I mentioned earlier, the game has its limitations and can be improved in small ways to be more complete and, even so, it is a great game made by one person . You'll have good fun, but I advise you to play in short doses to better enjoy the game and not get bored.
I am happy that we have more and more Brazilian developers venturing into indie games. I really appreciate that this scenario grows more and more and I come across several games that I didn't even imagine had the hands of Brazilians. We're on a great path .
