Come on an adventure with our beloved Shin-chan and make discoveries together with our dear boy.
THE GAME
Shin-chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is an adventure and exploration game developed by h.a.n.d., Inc. and published by Neos Corporation. Because of his job, Shinnosuke's father and his family move close to his hometown in Akita, renting a house near Shin-chan's grandparents. With a whole new environment to explore, Shin-chan meets new people and cultivates new habits in this rural region. Everything was peaceful, until Shiro, the family's little dog, appears covered in coal. Shiro catches Shin-chan's attention and runs, so the little boy follows him. At the end of the race, the two encounter a train that seems to come out of nowhere. They end up getting on the train, which closes its doors and takes the boy and his dog on a trip to Coal Town, a city full of workers. With this, a new range of adventures opens up for Shin-chan, who with all his charisma and joy, will help everyone and make new friends.
MY IMPRESSIONS
Shin-chan is a well-known figure in animation. Even though it is much more a part of Japanese culture, Crayon Shin-Chan is known all over the world. With its characteristic and unique art, you only have to look at it and you know it is the creation of Yoshito Usui. In Shin-chan: Shiro and the Coal Town, it is no different. All the characteristics of the animations and manga are here, in addition to the references found in these same media. What left me most speechless were the scenarios. While the characters and some other resources are in 3D, the scenarios appear to be hand-drawn and are beautiful.
The game is dubbed in Japanese, which brings it even closer to the anime. Shin-chan has his characteristic voice, in addition to his crazy movements and funny lines. The game is not in Brazilian Portuguese, which is a shame, because many of the dialogues are quite funny and get lost if you don't know English, since Shin-chan often gets people's names wrong and that's where the joke ends. I would like to see a translation into Brazilian Portuguese, because most of the time we are very good at localizing jokes.
Your adventure in the game will consist of completing your collections, collecting insects and fish, for example. In addition, you will help the residents with some tasks that can give you some benefits, such as accessing blocked areas. And you will do all of this in a day and night cycle, so plan well what you will do during your day, because our little Shin-chan has to go to bed early. However, make the most of your time, because you will only find some things at specific times in the game, such as fireflies at night. We also have mining cart races, which even allow you to customize your cart to improve its performance. Shin-chan's interaction with all the other characters is very fun and light-hearted, and that is how I can define the game as a whole. You will discover everything together with Shin-chan, in a relaxed atmosphere that does not rush you, despite the aforementioned day and night cycle. For those looking for a casual and relaxing game, you can embark on this adventure with the adorable Shin-Chan.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Since the game is basically focused on collecting, it's no surprise that there are a lot of achievements related to this activity. From collecting different types of items, quantities and qualities, to accumulating money and racing in all the mining cart races, you'll have a good variety of challenges to complete, but they won't be tiring or extremely complicated. They'll be laborious activities, but you'll probably do them without realizing it and soon you'll have completed all the achievements.
CONCLUSION
I didn't know much about Shin-chan, but I obviously knew him. He's such a well-written character that he won me over while I was playing. He's a childish character, but he has that touch of Japanese humor with his nuances. It's a very light and peaceful game, a typical casual game that you pick up to play a little bit every day and never get tired of. It's impossible not to become fond of Shin-chan, so his game is also very enjoyable. Discovering things with the boy is a lot of fun, with wonderfully designed scenarios and comical dialogues. I was impressed with what I found playing Shin-chan: Shiro and the Coal Town. I expected something much more childish, but it's a game that, I dare say, is for all ages and, for sure, all of them will have a lot of fun.
