Review: Neptunia x Senran Kagura Ninja Wars

The crossover between video game girls and ninja girls comes with everything!

THE GAME

Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars is a hack and slash RPG developed by Idea Factory, Compile Heart and Tamsoft and distributed by Idea Factory International. Gamninjustri is a nation where all types of ninja live and this is where our warriors live. Divided into two different ninja schools, the girls in the Neptunia series rival the girls in the Senran Kagura series. However, a common enemy emerges when an army of robot ninjas attack. Joining forces, our ninjas are challenged by the Steeme Legion to decide which is the strongest ninja school. Combine your forces, using varied ninja techniques and create crushing combos to defeat your enemies.

MY IMPRESSIONS

As I have already played some games from both franchises, I already had a certain knowledge about their gameplay and characters. However, in Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars we have a little of both worlds. The gameplay itself is average, I found it a little stuck at certain times. The lack of precision is also annoying, for example, when defending blows. Still, it's not something that ruins the game, as it continues to be enjoyable in many aspects. Unfortunately, the game is not in Portuguese-Brazil, which may put off some players in terms of story, as we have many visual novel style moments to tell what is happening.

Visually speaking, the game is very beautiful, in an anime style. As usual, these two games abuse sexualization, which is uncomfortable and unnecessary, but as we know which audience this type of game is aimed at, it's not surprising. Customization left something to be desired, with few options. Although we have equipment and gems that improve your characters, it's all very generic.

The difficulty is good and even challenging at times. The main quest is short, but we have other modes to explore, such as some side quests and minigames. It's a fun game and a great pastime, something that you won't have to work hard to play and that will be easy to learn. That simple.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The achievements in Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars are quite varied, but most of them can be achieved simply by finishing the main quest. Level achievements, enemies defeated, skills used, chests collected, in short, most of them are easily acquired. Remember to finish the game on at least the normal difficulty level, as there is an achievement related to this. In short, by the end of the game, you should be able to get practically all the achievements. Finally, we have achievements related to the balance minigame, which may take a while to acquire on its highest difficulty.

CONCLUSION

If you've played either franchise, don't expect anything like what you've already played. It's a much more simplified game, with a much slower pace. This doesn't make it any less fun than other games from both franchises, it just makes their union something unique and celebratory. Although we have the typical sexualization of both games, here it seems more restrained. For fans of the series, many other characters make appearances during the game.

Although simple, Neptunia x Senran Kagura: Ninja Wars is a fun game. I believe that there could be more content within the game, because as it is the union of two franchises, the feeling that more things are missing is quite strong. Don't expect a great experience, but know that you will have a fun and often challenging game. For those who want to know a little about Neptunia and Senran Kagura, it's a great introduction. For those who only like one of the franchises, it can be disappointing. And for those who like both franchises, it's a great crossover game.
