And let's go for another adventure in the Neptunia series!
THE GAME
Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters is an RPG developed by Idea Factory and Compile Heart and distributed by Idea Factory International. After the events of two years ago, where there was a battle between goddesses, our warriors wake up from a deep sleep only to discover that their land Planeptune is experiencing outbreaks of strange events. Thus, Nepgear, our protagonist, embarks on her first great adventure to save everyone. Unite all the warriors, prepare for battle and overcome this great challenge.
MY IMPRESSIONS
Another game in the Neptunia series, which could mean more of the same. In fact, visually, the game looks a lot like its predecessors, which is no defect at all. The game's art is very beautiful and follows the standard. The characters, of which there are many, continue with their characteristic visual identities and will please fans of the series. You can customize your characters visually, which is really cool. The story is very generic and unfolds as if it were a visual novel. The game is not in Portuguese-Brazil, which can make the experience tiring and uninteresting for those who want to follow all the dialogues.
And then we get to the part that completely took me out of the game: the gameplay. Yes, just the main element of a game. The mechanics of Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters are terrible. It wants to be a dynamic turn-based game, but it's horrible. You have to accumulate points to make combos. And how to get these points? Why, just doing nothing in battle. You'll have to dodge blows, hope you have enough to execute the blow you want and that's it. The old mode, with fixed turns that is used in most games in this franchise, was much better, in my opinion.
The good things about the game were overshadowed by the unfun gameplay, which unfortunately isn't very exciting. And this is the only flaw for me, however, a flaw that compromises the game as a whole. Everything in the universe is there, but the way everything is connected is through gameplay and it doesn't hold up.
ACHIEVEMENTS
To complete 100% of the achievements, you will need, in addition to finishing the story mode, to win several battles, perform some moves a few times, find treasures, sell and buy items, in short, that entire package of achievements that every RPG has. In the end, you get most of them by playing normally, but they are also easily forced.
CONCLUSION
Unfortunately, the gameplay of this game really turned me off. Everything seems stuck and tedious. Not all of the characters' personalities are enough to excite. If it had stuck to the basics, it would be a thousand times more fun game. I know that change can be good, but the amount of spin-offs that this series has, it's already been possible to test a lot of things. And here we can say that it didn't work.
Still, the fact that it is a series that has a lot of fans and will continue to have successes and mistakes, has a good margin for this. I just hope this gameplay isn't repeated in future games, as it's quite disappointing. I'm upset because, despite not being the biggest fan of Neptunia, I've had a lot of fun with some of the games in the series and this is the least fun of them.
