Review: My Time At Sandrock

Get ready to live an adventure in the middle of the desert as you help the residents of Sandrock make the city prosper.

THE GAME

My Time At Sandrock is a life-sim developed by Pathea Games and distributed by Pathea Games, Focus Entertainment, PM Studios, Inc. and DMM Games. In a post-apocalyptic world, 300 years after the day of calamity destroyed much of modern technology, our character moves to Sandrock, a city in the middle of the desert that struggles to survive in the conditions of drought and water scarcity. Furthermore, a group of villains wants to destroy the city at all costs. And we, as the new builders of Sandrock, will help the people in any way we can, whether it's building machines and structures or helping local rangers get rid of enemies. You can still upgrade your home, add structures, plant crops, take care of animals, start a family, in short, it's a world full of things to do. Explore the world of My Time At Sandrock and you will find lots of fun.

MY IMPRESSIONS

As I'm addicted to life-sim games, I'll tell you: the game is very good. I confess that at first I found the gameplay and graphics a little strange, but I was soon won over. The gameplay is simple, despite having many elements. At first you may feel a little lost, but you can rest assured that everything is going well. As I said in the previous topic, you will have many things to do in the game, in addition to following the main story. And because of that, this game will totally hook you. As for the graphics, they are beautiful and cheerful, matching the content of the game. My Time At Sandrock is in Portuguese-Brazil, which helps you follow the story and not get lost with so much information. My only reservation is that there are some errors in the translation, which bother me slightly, but it doesn't bother me at all, just my own curiosity.

The main story is interesting and even has some plot twists, which make the story very attractive. The characters are charismatic and have personality. You end up sympathizing with almost everyone in the city and they are essential for you to get involved with the story. The city is not big, but that's not a bad thing. Her disposition makes it seem like she is much bigger. The rest of the map is quite vast, but very desert-like, as the game's theme suggests.

Item creation is quite vast, as are the equipment options for your character. Both your house and your character will be very customized, just the way you prefer. The progression may seem slow, but you won't even feel it, as there is always something to do. The game's combat is very simple and doesn't require much skill. The only thing that may upset you is the creation time of some items, which take a certain period of time to be made, which at times can slow down your progress a little, but it is part of the gameplay.

Anyway, My Time At Sandrock is a dish full of fun. Everything is well executed, so that it doesn't become boring, repetitive or slow. It's a complete life-sim, with a lot of customization and variety of activities. It's a great game to pass the time. And it will pass. Furthermore, it also has a multiplayer option, which opens up an even greater range of possibilities. Without a doubt, it is a game that is worth checking out.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Just like every life-sim, the achievements will be quite varied according to each activity. So you can be sure that you will have to do a little bit of everything in the game, from finding chests and giving gifts to residents to picking up trash and poop from the floor. Do everything you can and you will definitely unlock some achievement. Interact with the residents, as there are many achievements related to them. In addition, of course, to the achievements on the main story, which you will achieve naturally as the game progresses. It will take you a long time to do 100%, given the game's multitude of activities and objectives, but they are more time-consuming than difficult.

The vast desert accompanies your adventure.

CONCLUSION

I think I can sum up the game in one sentence: it was the game I played the most in 2023. That says a lot about how engaging and addictive the game is. At least for me, who love life-sim. And I could have played much more, but as I played it on the Steam Deck, my sessions were hostage to the device's battery. Every time I played I couldn't stop, I always wanted to play just one more day in the game, which turned into two or three. Even when I was lost or aimless, I found a way to occupy the time within the game until something new happened. I played and felt that I hadn't yet scratched the surface of the game, which is adding items and mechanics at a great pace.

I can say that My Time At Sandrock was a pleasant surprise, I had a lot of fun playing and discovering this world that is presented. Unfortunately, I haven't played its predecessor, My Time At Portia, so I can't compare the evolution from one game to the next, but what I can say is that it's an extremely fun and relaxing game to play, with a long life and a great hobby. Sandrock will become your home for some good times.
