THE GAME
Midnight Ghost Hunt is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game developed by Vaulted Sky Games and distributed by Coffee Stain. In a four versus four combat, the hunters will answer the call to exterminate the ghosts, who in turn, have objects to hide. However, the hunters become hunted if they don't exterminate all the ghosts by midnight. Use powers and weapons with different uses to achieve your objective and defeat the enemy team before your entire team is hunted down.
MY IMPRESSIONS
Hide and seek style games are nothing new, but there aren't many representatives in the industry either. Midnight Ghost Hunt came to increase the range of games in this style. With many different features, initially, the game may seem a little confusing. Many skills and weapons to be learned, both from hunters and ghosts. Even if you don't have access to all of them right away, you may be caught by surprise if you don't understand how some mechanics work. In fact, most of them are really cool, but I like simpler things and I thought there were too many unnecessary things. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which makes it easier to understand how everything works. A basic mechanic that I didn't like so much is that ghosts can't stay still for a long time or they will be more easily detected. I understand the need for this, as the maps are large and the time for each phase is short, but what I find funniest in games like this is hiding, seeing enemies on your side looking like crazy and having no idea where you are. With this mechanic, you are forced to move without stopping, otherwise the detector will soon recognize your location. I believe this was added to make the matches busier, however, I didn't like it. However, I really liked the idea of hunted people becoming hunters, which is the highlight. If just one ghost survives until midnight, everyone on your team comes back to life in search of revenge. However, one thing that even confused me was thinking that the hunters would be defenseless and would have to hold out for a certain amount of time to survive. My mistake. Hunters can still defend themselves and win the game. So there are many different ways to win a game, even those that seemed lost. Character customization adds extra charm and makes your character more unique. Midnight Ghost Hunt doesn't stray far from that. For those who like competitive games full of different strategies, you will really like it. Playing with friends is highly recommended, because it's always more fun.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Most achievements are basically linked to eliminations using different weapons and skills several times. For those who are going to play a lot of games, you will eventually get a lot of them, even if you have to force the use of some if you don't like them very much. Furthermore, making taunts, winning matches, unlocking cosmetics and other specific actions also have their respective achievements. In short, you will have to play really, really hard if you want to complete 100% of the achievements.
CONCLUSION
I was really looking forward to playing this game because of the theme and style. I confess that I was expecting something simpler and this took away my excitement a little. However, it still has a lot of potential, although the player needs some resilience at the beginning of the game to understand everything that is happening. Only some mechanics didn't please me, but that's my personal taste, as I've played other games in the same hide-and-seek style and Midnight Ghost Hunt is at the bottom of the list, unfortunately, due to some of the factors already mentioned.
