Review: Metal Suits Counter Attack

Put on your best and most armed suit and battle against the most diverse space beings.

THE GAME

Metal Suits: Counter Attack is an action platform game developed and distributed by Eggtart Inc. In the distant year of 4373, Kevin, a retired, sick and old war hero, is resting in his ship when the Golida aliens begin an invasion of the planet and attack Kevin's ship that was in orbit. In the process, Andy, Kevin's robot dog and companion, is destroyed and our old hero loses a large part of his body. Kevin ends up becoming a cyborg and is forced to come out of retirement to take revenge on the terrible Golida aliens, equipping himself with the most diverse armors he has at his disposal.

MY IMPRESSIONS

Who doesn't like power-ups, right? In Metal Suits: Counter Attack, this is the factor that draws the most attention. With several types of armor that alter your attacks, you advance through the levels and destroy enemies with all the firepower possible. In addition, all of them have super attacks for those situations where you need to clear the stage that is full of enemies or to deal more damage to one of the bosses. The levels don't demand much from the player, and the fact that you will almost always have armor makes it very difficult to be defeated by an enemy. Shooting and sweeping everything you see in front of you is the spirit of the game, which causes several explosions and chain reactions. Exploring every corner of the level will always reward you, whether with hidden collectibles or improvements.

The game's art is very beautiful and colorful, full of sparkles and effects when using your attacks, which make everything more pyrotechnic. The game is in Brazilian Portuguese, which makes it easier to follow the story, even though it is only there to be your reason for the adventure, without drawing too much attention. The game really shines in its carefree fun factor, which is great for a casual game.

Infinite explosions.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The achievements in Metal Suits: Counter Attack are simple and to the point. You will basically need to: defeat a specific number of enemies, complete the game on all difficulties and collect all the collectibles in the game. I think it is quite fair for what the game proposes and it still remains an honest challenge to get 100% of the achievements.

CONCLUSION

When playing Metal Suits: Counter Attack, two references immediately came to mind that may have been the developers' as well: Broforce and Metal Slug. With many elements from these two games, it's hard not to have fun. It's a very honest game, with a very high fun factor, that rewards you for exploring the maps, even if the premise is to go around destroying everything you see in front of you. Although it may seem generic at times, its aesthetics have their charm, even if most of the enemies are completely forgettable due to their uninspired designs. It's a great game to pass the time, without pressure, just enjoying the frenetic gameplay full of explosions and lightning. Metal Suits: Counter Attack will give you fun and you won't regret it.
