Review: House Flipper - Farm DLC

Life in the countryside is hard work, but it has its charm, as we can see in this DLC.

THE GAME

House Flipper - Farm DLC is a renovation simulation game developed by Frozen Way and Empyrean and distributed by Frozen Way, Frozen District and PlayWay S.A. The base game simulates renovations, buying and selling properties, in short. In its Farm DLC, the focus is on country life and activities, such as caring for crops. In addition, we can buy farm animals, such as chickens and horses, so the experience of farm life is complete.

MY IMPRESSIONS

As with all House Flipper DLCs, many new items have been added, bringing new decoration possibilities, most of which are inspired by country life. Additionally, new equipment is introduced to help with your renovation journey. Well, at least they should be useful equipment, but in fact, many of them are expendable, like the hoe, for example, and others are exaggerated, like the climbing hook. Like the base game, this DLC is in Portuguese-Brazil.

I confess that I thought the DLC content goes in a direction very far from what the game really is. You are directed towards activity like planting and harvesting, taking care of animals and, well, is this a renovation game or a farm simulator? Because, at the end of the day, these things are useless for the game itself. You can even sell products from your farm, but the money you generate is meager compared to the rest of the game's normal activities. I don't see a player who was attracted to the game for renovations and construction stop doing that to take care of a farm.

Acquiring and interacting with farm animals is interesting and fun. It may sound contradictory to what I said in the Pets DLC review (which you can read here) about how animals bring some life to the game, as you barely see any living things during the course of the game, except for cockroaches, but in the case of the Farm DLC, it's overdone and unnecessary. I think they got too carried away with the content and ended up diverting a lot from the focus of the game.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The DLC adds achievements to the base game, just like all other House Flipper DLCs. Therefore, keep in mind that to complete House Flipper 100%, you will have to purchase all DLCs. Since we're only talking about the Farm DLC, I'll just limit myself to it. In that case, get ready to become a farmer, as some achievements require you to farm, collect eggs, jump a horse over an obstacle and so on. Furthermore, using the new tools is also necessary for achievements. Some others require specific actions, however, nothing too difficult. Finally, finish all work on the new maps. So, you will probably be able to complete all the achievements in this DLC.

CONCLUSION

The DLC isn't all bad, however, I think that of everything that was added, few things are saved as necessary. I don't understand the reason for adding the farm simulator factor to the game. And it seems so neglected, because in the new works added, you don't even use or are introduced to the new concept, which in my opinion reinforces that it's something that shouldn't be there. However, as it is, I still think it is exaggerated and underutilized.

I like it when useful or interesting things are added, but in this case, it went a little overboard. Even if you want to build a farm with everything you need, it seems like too much work in a game where that's not the focus. I would like all the added elements to be better utilized and consistent with the game's proposal.

SCORE: 6.0/10
