Have you ever dreamed of having your own coffee shop in the subways of São Paulo or underwater in Sydney? No? Well, in Espresso Tycoon maybe that dream will start to appear in your mind.
THE GAME
Espresso Tycoon is a coffee shop simulator developed by DreamWay Games and distributed by PlayWay S.A. As a coffee shop owner, manage all your business processes, from decorating the room and hiring employees to creating your drinks. Pass through different countries and different locations, meeting the demands of specific groups to earn more money and expand your coffee shop more and more.
MY IMPRESSIONS
Like any good simulator, Espresso Tycoon has a lot of elements to manage. If you start playing through the campaign, the game gradually introduces new mechanics at each new phase, smoothly, without clogging you up with information, which is a very positive point, since you learn all aspects of the game without causing confusion. . Still talking about the campaign mode, it is complete in what it proposes and does not have a very difficult level, which makes the game much more enjoyable and without frustrations. The game is in Portuguese-Brazil, which helps to better understand all the management explanations.
The game's graphics are great, especially when it comes to drinks. Impossible not to feel like drinking their own creations, which have the most diverse ingredients, from the most conventional to the most exotic, such as pepper and butter. It's a lot of fun combining all these elements into cups, trying to put together the best combination for your customers.
I think the only element I didn't like so much was that there are thieves who rob your coffee shop. You have to hire security guards to prevent this from happening. And yes, this brings the game closer to reality, despite the fact that the thief appears dressed as a thief and quietly and visibly sneaks among people. However, I didn't like this mechanic, but nothing that disturbs the game itself, it's something more of my personal taste.
It is an extremely fun game, managing the cafeteria is simple despite having many elements. If you make good drinks, even if you're almost bankrupt, you can bounce back. The game hits a lot here. For those who want something more customizable, we have the sandbox mode, which allows you to customize your game in the best way. Want to take the thieves out of the game? Just disable them. Want to start a coffee shop with practically infinite money? Can also. Feel free to play however you like.
What excites me most about Espresso Tycoon is that it still has a lot of room for new things and that's exactly what the developers are doing. With plans for improvements to the game, it looks like there's still plenty of cool stuff to come. I'm always happy with games that keep getting better even after release.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Most of the achievements you get basically playing the campaign mode. About 50% of them can be obtained just by finishing this mode. That's because many of the achievements are linked to milestones in the game, such as receiving a specific number of tips or selling a certain amount of coffee. Therefore, you will have to play the campaign mode a lot to be able to complete 100% of them. There are also some specific achievements, but they are not difficult to complete. In short, play without worrying. If you play long enough, you'll be able to complete everything.
CONCLUSION
Without a doubt, Espresso Tycoon will amuse management game lovers. Everything he sets out to do, he does well and without complication. More games of this style should learn from Espresso Tycoon. Despite simulators, games have to have fun above all else.
With a good level of challenge, you manage to get excited about improving your coffee shop, and even when things go wrong, you manage to straighten it out. Combining the right ingredients to please customers is almost alchemy, putting the right portions of each requested element. And as limiting as it may seem, with a good variety of ingredients you can create very different drinks.
I'm looking forward to seeing what else Espresso Tycoon has to offer as we already have a few additions announced. I hope it doesn't stop there and the game gets richer and more enjoyable to play.
